  • IMPORTANT Information for Regional Championships

[gview file="/files/Events-that-will-affect-Region-4-Championships.pdf"] Dear Parents,   We are excited about the 2014 Region 4 Championships; this year’s event has over 625 athletes. We hope that this will truly be one of the most memorable experiences of your child’s tumbling and trampoline career. Here are a few suggestions that may help you have a positive experience as well.   There are a number of events going on in the city this weekend that will affect traffic and parking. Please see the letter above.  Please note that there is a bike rally on Saturday Night. A tractor pull in East Peoria, and a marathon on Sunday morning in Peoria that will go on three sides of the Civic Center and will close many streets for most of the morning. Please plan accordingly as traffic and parking will be a problem. We did not know of these events when booking this venue.   VENUE: Peoria Civic Center Peroia, IL There is a charge for parking at the Civic Center. This is something that is controlled by the Civic Center, not USA Gymnastics.   ADMISSION: Single day:               $10.00 Adults $5.00 children 7 to 12 FREE – 6 and under   Athletes in uniform will be admitted for FREE if they present their athlete pass. These may be obtained from the athlete registration table.   To speed admissions on Saturday and Sunday we will be selling admissions bracelets on Friday during the Training Sessions. Bracelets will be put on by our volunteers and must remain on for the duration of the event. Broken or lost bracelets will not be replaced.   PROGRAM: There will be a program available. All teams and athletes entered by the deadline will be listed in the program. Flight sheets will be in the program.   VOLUNTEERS: In order to help make this a quality competition it will take all of us working together. If you would like to volunteer for a single session or all day we would love to have you. Volunteers may sign-up online at: www.usagttregioniv.com go to championships tab, then volunteers. All volunteers will receive a bracelet for their admission the day they volunteer and a free T-Shirt if you pre-register as a volunteer. All volunteers will also receive one entry into a drawing for each session they work.  Top prize for the drawing is: National Championship Entry Fee.  The Volunteer check in table will be just past the admissions table.   SCHEDULE: Training for Jr/Sr will be Friday afternoon from 6-7, Level 8-10 training will join the Juniors and Seniors from 7-8. We will use the block schedule for all events during the week. This schedule gives you an exact time for each event your child will be competing in. Feel free to leave the arena between events. Be sure to be back in the arena at least 45 minutes prior to the scheduled time.   OFFICAL T-SHIRT: The official Regional Championship T-shirts along with many other items will be available for sale at the Northwest Designs booth during the competition.   SCORING: Final score sheets posted.   AWARDS: Each child will receive a flight award immediately following their flight competition. The top ten in each age group and ability will receive a medal at the end of each session of competition during the awards ceremony. Check the final results posted in the venue. See the specific schedule for award ceremony times.   The Level 10 Regional All Star Team will be announced after the session on Saturday afternoon.   This is a Regional Event and it is an honor to place in the top ten, it is also a great opportunity to teach your child good sportsmanship. If your child places in the top ten they should be proud of themselves and proudly report to staging in their competition attire for awards.   SAFETY: For the safety of your child and others participating in the Region 4 Championships, we ask the following: Please do not use flash photography of any kind. Bright lights on video cameras are also prohibited. No one is allowed on the upper running track located at the top of the arena. Please make sure your children are aware of this.   STAGING: The staging area is used to line up flights for competition and pre competition stretching. In order to make this process run smoothly for the staff we ask that athletes not report to this area until their flight times have been called over the PA system or no more than 20 minutes prior to their scheduled time for competition. Door guards will allow only those athletes who are in the flights that have been called to enter the staging area. Athletes who are in this area too early will be asked to leave. We appreciate your cooperation in this matter. If an athlete is missing from a flight we will call their name before the flight is taken to the competition floor. NO FOOD WILL BE ALLOWED IN THE STAGING AREA.   OFF LIMITS: Due to the strict safety standards of USAG only those parents who have volunteered to help will be allowed on the competition floor. All others admitted to the competition floor must be safety certified with USA Gymnastics, and must also wear the official Region 4 Championship credentials. THERE WILL BE NO PARENTS ALLOWED IN THE LINE UP AREA. We ask for your cooperation in this matter. Once your child has reached the regional level they should know what to expect in the lineup area and be able to participate in the process without your help. We hope your Regional Championship experience is a great one. If you have any questions that are not addressed, please check with your coach prior to the competition so that there are no surprises. Come and enjoy the fun of watching your child learn and grow from the competition experience.   REGION 4 T-SHIRT: Each athlete will receive a card for a Region 4 T-shirt. Athletes may pick up their shirt at the Region 4 Booth in the vendor area.   We would like them to wear during Regional All Star Competition at National Championships in Louisville, KY. Parents who would like to purchase a Region 4 t-shirt may pre-order a shirt (order forms available on the website soon) or purchase them at the venue. Level 8-SR Nationals are in our region, show your Region 4 support!   WEB SITE INFO: Check the official Region 4 web site often for updates. There will also be any last minute information posted that will make your experience more pleasant. The web site is your link to the most up to date information. www.usagttregioniv.com
